1Students preparing to sit for the CPA examination should take ACC 215 as they will need a minimum of 24 semester hours of upper level accounting courses, including courses in auditing, financial accounting, management accounting and taxation. ACC 211 and ACC 212 are not considered as upper level courses, and ACC 221 and ACC 222 each account for 3 credit hours by the Virginia Board of Accountancy. These students will also need a minimum of 24 semester hours of business courses, no more than six semester hours of which could be considered accounting courses. Students should obtain a copy of their transcripts from all colleges or universities attended and meet with an accounting faculty member to determine which course is appropriate.
